Some of the tunes on shuffle in Emma Manley's studio when creating her A/W 11 collection, were by Karen O, the Streets and Summer Camp, to name a few! I've happily become acquainted with Karen O since chatting with Emma.
The new collection is filled with a diverse range of pieces, adding the Manley edge to some more classic designs from that which we've seen in the past. For this collection, Emma continues the unusual combination of luxurious fabrics, using a mix of naturalistic and rugged fabrics including merino wools, mohair and pigskin, uniquely teamed with delicate chiffon and cotton shell. I asked Emma did she have any favourites from the collection "the Slasher Dress (image 3) is something I throw on and instantly feel comfortable and elegant in, I love it for its' simplicity...the Boxter Dress (image 1) is my 'go to' outfit..it's simple yet has an edge with the leather collar, casually cool!" This season Emma is drooling over Proenza Schouler, Simone Rocha and Mary Katrantzou who she says "is teaching me allot about print and and leaving me relatively speechless."
Some of the pieces from Manley's A/W 11 collection have been released as pre-fall and are available in Bow, the Powerscourt Townhouse, Dublin, and also in Wolf & Badger, Notting Hill, London. The full collection will be available from September. I've got my eye on the Boxter Dress!
